Eco Friendly Winter Decoration

December 13, 2012

It’s so much fun to make the home cozy and decorate it for the winter time, but when I go shopping and see all these masses of (plastic) decoration, knowing that most of it is destined to be trashed again, I don’t feel very comfortable spending my money on it. So this year I decided to look for a more natural alternative. And the best decoration came from nature itself! I took a walk in the forest and picked up some fallen sticks and branches. You can see on the pictures what I made with it.

Instead of having a real tree for christmas, my boyfriend and I decided to save a tree and looked for other alternatives. Pinterest is a great place to get inspired. Check out my “Alternative Christmas Tree” board if you like! We now have a chalk christmas tree, for which I bought chalkboard paint and painted a wood board (that I found in the used/reuse section of IKEA). This idea is great also if you have kids – I’m sure they would have a good time painting and “decorating” the tree!
